“My pain level today is all the way down to 2 out of 10!”

Before coming to Raleigh Specific Chiropractic, I had severe pain in my lumbar spine. It was so bad the Sunday before I came to the office that I could not get out of bed all day, and was unable to go to church. My pain level was 10 out of 10. I was unable to even walk properly, and just getting out of bed was excruciating.

I was first treated with steroids, anti-inflammatories, and muscle relaxants. I was referred to an orthopedic surgeon – but I avoided that.

I experienced progressive improvement over the duration of decompression (4 weeks). Some days were better than others. Spinal Decompression has put me on a path to natural healing and allowed me to avoid surgery. I am very satisfied with the results as early as 4 weeks into treatment. My pain level today is all the way down to 2 out of 10!

“Now after the treatment the pain is gone and I feel stronger than before I started down this road.”

I was under regular chiropractic care and was referred to Dr. Winget by my chiropractor to be evaluated for spinal decompression. I had a herniated disc, with sciatic pain going down my right leg. The pain was sharp, radiating, and burning. The longer the time, the more it moved down my leg. It started in my back and hip, and went to the thigh, then the knee, lower leg, and finally to the foot.

On 28 August 2010, I went to urgent care. They diagnosed it as sciatic nerve inflammation and gave me hydrocortisone. On 01 September 2010, I went to a general practitioner who ordered an x-ray and MRI and gave me something for the inflammation. On 04 September, I went to an emergency room and had a shot, and they gave me some Percocet.  On 13 September I first went to Raleigh Specific Chiropractic.

Since starting with decompression, I have felt better every time I came for treatment. While taking the treatment, it felt so good that I wanted to stay on the machine, and I felt relieved and felt like my discs were hydrating. While going through the treatment, my right leg bothered me more but was told that it would be normal because my back was being straightened out. Now after the treatment the pain is gone and I feel stronger than before I started down this road.

“Now, I have nearly complete relief.”

When I first came to the office, I had continuous pain which was occasionally severe. It affected me most in my left buttock and groin area. It made sitting, standing, and walking uncomfortable. If I did any of those at length, it would get much worse. It would feel ok at first, but if I didn’t constantly vary my position it would get very intense. I was constantly icing my back (up to 10 times per day) and taking pain medication. I had also tried stretching on exercise ball and taking pain medication.

Now, I have nearly complete relief. There is still some stiffness on days after the decompression treatment, but it goes away within hours. I can walk, and sit without bothering my back. I went to Bush Gardens with my grandkids and my low back did not get sore at all!

“I would absolutely recommend spinal decompression to anyone facing the same problems I started out with.”

I was referred to the office from my mother, who has seen Dr. Winget and recommended that I come see him.  I was experiencing significant lower back pain that bothered me all the time. I could not engag

e in anything physical: walking, climbing stairs, even sitting still as they all bothered me.

After a week of spinal decompression, maybe less, I started noticing changes in my pain level. I have had a total recovery, with no residual pain, I am back to playing basketball, doing any activity that I want, and just went on vacation to the beach without my back bothering me at all! It used to be difficult to raise my legs while lying down, and now I can lift them up with ease. I would absolutely recommend spinal decompression to anyone facing the same problems I started out with.

“I have been boating on the lake, swimming, riding on roller coasters at a theme park, and enjoying my summer!”

Before I came to see Dr. Winget, I was dealing with low back pain that would radiate into my buttocks and the back of my legs. I was diagnosed with a spondylolisthesis at L5-S1. It would hurt every day, much more severe in the mornings, and would loosen up some during the day. In the morning, my pain level would get to be about as bad as I could stand. The pain would come and go through the day, but was always affecting me. I could not bend down to tie my shoes, and the pain prevented me from exercising, dancing, and playing tennis. It affected things around the house, like unloading the dishwasher, bending to get things in and out of the oven, or sitting for long car rides.

After my third decompression visit, I had already noticed that my back was improving. My symptoms changed from pain to slight stiffness. I was already noticing that it was easier to bend down to tie my shoes. I did have a day or two during the first weeks that my back pain would return, but it was not nearly as severe as it was before. By the third week, the pain was nearly gone!

I am feeling much better now, and have been able to return to doing things that would have been very painful before. I have been boating on the lake, swimming, riding on roller coasters at a theme park, and enjoying my summer!

“I would describe my results as excellent or phenomenal.”

What brought me to come see Dr. Winget was my growing inability to work. I am a painter and could not do my job. I was constantly dealing with lower back pain. I and had spells of dizziness where I couldn’t see straight. It had gone on for the last 3 years. I had shooting pain down my right leg with some tingling in the toes. It would get worse in the afternoons, especially on days I had to work. I would rate the low back pain at 8-9 out of 10 before I began seeing Dr. Winget. It was a huge effort just to get to work every day.

I had previously been seen by another chiropractor, but had been getting adjustments only, and had never tried spinal decompression. I would describe my results as excellent or phenomenal. I don’t know what I would have done otherwise. I am back to working full time. My back can get sore from time to time but is much less painful and less frequent than before. After going through spinal decompression, my back pain averages 2 out of 10 now. I would recommend it to anyone who has low back issues or is considering surgery. Try decompression first, it’s the best alternative out there. You have nothing to lose except a day without pain! Last weekend I went on a church trip, and we went white water rafting and rock climbing and neither one made my back sore. I wouldn’t have even attempted that when I was in the condition I was in before.

“I feel as if I am getting my life back!”

Last year, I was scheduled for a medical procedure that required anesthesia. The preparation for the procedure included taking one tablet of the drug Raglan. After the procedure, I developed certain side effects, I believe caused by the Raglan drug. These included numbness, tingling, and pain in my hands, arms, and feet. My primary care doctor wrote a prescription for a drug he thought would lessen or eliminate those symptoms. Instead, they increased, and I developed additional problems, including sleeplessness, fatigue, and loss of hair. The answer from my primary care doctor was to recommend an even stronger drug from the same generic source. I simply could not take these drugs, because I developed almost all the side effects that were listed as possible. After undergoing several other tests, including nerve tests, X-rays, blood tests, vitamin D tests, brain scans, and more. No solution was found for my symptoms. I was at the end of my rope and my patience.

A friend recommended to me that I visit her chiropractor at Raleigh Specific Chiropractic. I did so in January, 2010, where I met Drs. James and Jill Winget. They conducted some preliminary studies of me, and recommended a program of spinal decompression treatment designed to treat a misaligned spine and disc damage. Almost immediately after starting the treatment, I had more relief from the symptoms than I had in the months previous.

When I began my decompression program I would rate my low back pain at 8 out of 10. The pain would range from sharp, shooting, burning, throbbing, and dull aching. It began more in the center of my back and is now right sided also. This had been going on for at least a year. I also had problems in my right leg, such as pain and tingling, and was getting out of bed and it would give out on me.

Throughout the attention provided to me by Drs. Winget, they have been very patient, kind, thorough, very helpful, and encouraging. Starting treatment by them has been very rewarding for me, and I am much better for it. I feel as if I am getting my life back.

“I walked the trails while on vacation in the mountains and slept great!”

Before my Spinal Decompression, I had been experiencing constant lower back pain. The back pain affected many aspects of my life; I was not able to sit comfortably for more than a few minutes. I work in a job that requires standing, bending, and repeated heavy lifting. I had trouble doing my job, and after a full night of work, it would make my low back hurt even more. I noticed improvements within the "rst week! The Decompression felt so good that I wish I could have been on the table for even longer. I found it to be very comfortable and relaxing, one of the best parts of my day! I really enjoy the back strengthening machine. The exercise feels good and I know it is making my low back stronger. I still get occasional pain and soreness but I can move a lot easier. I walked the trails while on vacation in the mountains and slept great! I notice that it is easier to work now, as bending, standing, and sitting have become easier.

“I no longer have chronic lower back pain or nerve pain!”

Before beginning with the Lordex system I was experiencing lower back pain and nerve pain in my legs and torso. I experienced an inability to sleep and sporadic searing pain at various touch points. With the lower back pain I was unable to sit or move well and had to lie down most of the time. I felt relief within 7 – 10 sessions on the Lordex System. I no longer have chronic lower back pain or nerve pain! I have flexibility in my back and spine and feel 100% better!

“I am no longer facing a painful and dangerous back surgery!”

Before starting my decompression program, I had low back problems and it was suggested that I have surgery on my back. My daily life was greatly impacted. I couldn’t sit for longer than 10 minutes. The pain was so intense that I was forced to stop exercising. As a result I lost 12 pounds in four months from being in constant pain. I had a steroid injection in my back and it made my back pain worse! The doctor I was going to suggested surgery and wanted to put a metal rod in my spine. With Lordex, I noticed a change in my pain level by the fourth visit! I can now sit in my chair at work for an hour and 45 minutes at a time, instead of only 10 minutes, and that is getting better each day! I am also exercising again and able to do light housework that I couldn’t do before decompression. I am walking more and at a faster pace each time I walk. My pain is a lot better and I have gained back 5 of the 12 pounds that I had lost. I am no longer facing a painful and dangerous back surgery!

“My back pain is almost down to zero...”

I was experiencing lower back pain before beginning the Lordex program. It would range from a 6 to 7 out of ten in pain. I was unable to do anything without my back hurting; standing, sitting, or sleeping, but the worst was standing. I could only stand for a few minutes sometimes before I had to sit down somewhere. I had already tried cortisone injections, physical therapy, oral steroids, and muscle relaxers. My doctor ruled out surgery and suggested chiropractic and/or acupuncture. I noticed my "rst major improvement, this past weekend, after around 3 weeks worth of visits. I am sleeping better, sitting is not as painful. Standing is better, but is sometimes still painful when I stand for more than a few minutes. I recently went on vacation, and my back felt great in the car. Typically, riding in the car would make it feel very stiff and painful. My back pain is almost down to zero, I would say it is 1 out of 10. Update at end of decompression program: I went shopping all day yesterday and was on my feet walking a lot. My back pain was non-existent, zero out of ten!

“I found that the pain was signicantly reduced...I have no need for my past medication.”

I started coming to the office because I had severe sciatic pain going down the side of my left leg. I also had a torn rotor cuff in my right shoulder. On a scale of one to ten, my pain was easily a ten. My medical doctor recommended surgery. Dr. Winget was able to alleviate the majority of the pain with regular chiropractic care and therefore avoided the unnecessary operation. Before coming to the office I had trouble sleeping, I was irritable, and I did not want to leave the house because of the pain. I am now able to sleep through the night on my side and my quality of life has drastically improved. I love to cook, and the pain would worsen while I would stand and cook. I found that the pain was signi"cantly reduced with only a few sessions of Spinal Decompression and I have no need for my past medication. I am one hundred percent satis"ed with the Lordex system. While on the decompression table, I could actually feel the machine reducing the pressure and alleviating my pain. I can not believe the improvement that decompression has made on my life. I went from “ten pain” to nearly zero! My only options were surgery and living in pain, I am so happy that Dr. Winget recommended decompression as an alternative to surgery!

“I was enjoying activities again!”

Before my decompression visits I was suffering with severe low back pain, groin pain, and sciatica. I was having trouble sitting for even short periods and could not participate in normal activities. I love to road cycle and this was getting to be extremely uncomfortable. I had to stop every few miles to stretch and take a break. I have been very active all of my life and suddenly found myself struggling to do anything. I could not participate in sports or athletics, and found that I also could not bend forward to do any housework or gardening.

I had tried various anti-inflammatory and steroid injections and did not see any improvement. Surgery was not an option for me. By my 7th or 8th time I was on the Lordex I was seeing and feeling quite a bit of improvement. I was enjoying activities again! I have had a great improvement so far and am still undergoing treatment, so I may see even more improvement. I am back riding my bike long distances again! I went to the state fair and was able to walk for almost "ve hours without pain! Before my decompression treatment, I would have been struggling to walk even one hour. I am able to do my yard work without aggravating my back now. I had no discomfort during or after treatment and am very satis"ed with results thus far.

“I am sleeping normally again, and just took myself off of the last of my 4 medications!”

Before starting my decompression program, my left leg felt kinked like a water hose and my left leg would lock up and stay very tight. This would cause my leg to give out and I would stumble. It terrifed me to hold and walk with my new granddaughter. I also had no response to left leg reflex test. I describe my leg pain was a 10 out of 10 easily. I was unable to walk, unable to sleep a full night, and was taking 4 different sleep/pain medications with no help. I slowly got better each visit and was pleased with the changes, but the biggest change came in my 4th week of decompressions. I have a decreased left leg pain level of 1 out of ten. I felt well enough to walk again, and took a 35 minute walk to the office. The walk did not aggravate my low back at all! I am exercising more frequently, and my range of motion in yoga stretches has increased signi"cantly. My leg no longer feels kinked, and is not locking up as much now. I have also noticed that my leg responds correctly to the reflex test again. I am sleeping normally again, and just took myself off of the last of my 4 medications!

I have had back problems with severe pain for over ten years.

I have had back problems with severe pain for over ten years. I have been to a number of doctors and have had lots of X-Rays taken.  All I received was the acknowledgement that “yes” I have a back problem, and here is a prescription that will ease the pain.

I was tired of taking several different types of pain meds and getting nowhere, so I went to the Carolina Back Institute for help. They took X-Rays, MRI, and even performed an EMG. I was told there was a nerve being pressed between L4, and L5 in my spine. I was told I could get a cortisone shot or continue to take medication. I chose the meds, and was still in pain. My prescription bills kept getting larger, and I was still in pain.

My company hosted a health fair with several businesses doing screenings for various health issues. I stopped by the Raleigh Specific Chiropractic booth and had an assessment done on my back and neck. Per the results, I made an appointment to come in and have X-Rays and further analyses performed, I took their advice and made the appointment to help my back. That was the best choice I have ever made for myself. I started treatments starting at three times per week and by the middle of the second month, I was off my medication!

I do not have to take any pain pills anymore! What this office has done for me is short of a miracle. I can do a lot of activities now with no pain. My dogs even enjoy getting a bath now as I can lean over the tub and take the time to wash them longer. My daily activities have increased and doing gardening is pain free now.

I believe it was meant to be for Raleigh Specific Chiropractic to be at my job that day. They have changed my life and made my life pain free. I am so thankful do Dr. Winget and his staff for helping me to get my body back in shape and in fantastic “working order”. I will continue my visit to ensure my body stays in good working order.
