Chiropractic Treatment for Bedwetting

Safe, Natural Treatment for Bedwetting

What is Bedwetting?

Bedwetting is any condition in which a child or adult consistently fails to hold their urine in throughout the night and ends up urinating in their bed. This condition is very common in children, but usually resolves itself by the time they around 5 years old and toilet-trained.

However, in rare cases, children older than 5 years old may continue to wet the bed continuously until early adolescence. Bedwetting may also occur in seniors who are unable to leave their bed in the night, or simply have poor bladder control.

How Can Chiropractic Treatment Help with Bedwetting?

Chiropractic treatments are the leading alternative approach to dealing with bedwetting. How can chiropractic treatment help with bedwetting?

Bedwetting has many causes, but the most common cause is interference in the phrenic nerve. The phrenic nerve is responsible for the phrenic reflex. This reflex is meant to prevent sphincters in the body from opening during the night. Interference with this reflex can cause bedwetting.

This nerve is positioned between the 3rd-5th cervical vertebrae. Chiropractic adjustments directly to these vertebrae can affect the bladder and improve the functions of the nervous system – relieving pressure and interference that can impede the phrenic reflex.

This treatment can be performed on both children and adults by a qualified chiropractor. Some minor spinal adjustments will be required, but they are completely safe for children of all ages.

In some cases, children will stop bedwetting immediately, but it’s more common for kids to require multiple treatments before bedwetting ceases entirely.
